The privacy notice
How MathsHub handles homework photos, account information and your choices.
Your choices, at a glance
Homework photos are deleted from our server after reading. You can delete one page, one child’s records or your account from the app. The first name you enter is not attached to a model request; a name written on the photograph itself may be visible to the model.
The photo, and where it goes
The photo leaves your phone and reaches our server. We send it to Anthropic, whose model reads the handwriting for us. Then we delete it. We keep no photo of your child's work.
What we keep
We keep what we worked out: the printed questions, what your child wrote, their working, and what we think went wrong. That is what lets us tell you in three weeks that this is the same mistake as last time.
We keep it for [OPERATOR: how long we keep it, in plain words].
If you use the short practice plan, we also save the first numeric answer to each question, whether help was used, its checked result and when it was tried. This lets you return to the plan and see practice history. Deleting the page removes its practice answers too.
Your child has no account
Your child does not need a separate sign-in. You can use your account together. Their school year is stored with your account so a new phone can find their pages.
Their first name is stored with your account as well, encrypted where it sits, and deleted when you delete the account or when you remove that child. You manage this information from your account. It goes to one place on our server and nowhere else: it is not in a web address, not in a log line, and not sent with a photograph.
Pictures stay on this phone
We keep a picture of each page here so you can check what we say against what your child wrote. Your phone's own lock is what protects them. One button deletes every picture. Your browser may clear them to make room, and your phone's backup may copy them. Neither is ours to control.
Why we are allowed to do this
[OPERATOR: the lawful basis for reading a child's work, in one sentence]
You asked us to read the page, and you can ask us to stop and to delete everything at any time, from the app rather than by writing to anybody.
Where the photo is read
The model that reads the handwriting is Anthropic's, and the photo goes to them to be read. [OPERATOR: where the model runs, and the safeguard for sending it there] The account name and your email are not attached to the model request. Anything written in the photograph itself is part of the image sent for reading.
What is stored on this phone
The app keeps a few things in this browser's own storage so it works when you come back. Clearing this site's data removes all of them, and so does "Delete everything" on the Account screen.
- Your children's first names and school years, and which one is selected.
- Your sign-in, once you have signed in, and your email in the masked form we show you.
- The last balance we were told about, so a screen can say what a page costs before we have asked again.
- A note of a page still being read, so closing the app does not lose it.
- The moment you accepted the consent screen, and your answer to the cookie box.
- A picture of each page you have sent, in this browser's own database, so you can check what we say against what your child wrote.
While you are typing a sign-in code, the address you typed is held until the code is accepted, and then dropped.
We read maths, and only maths
We are not watching for anything else and we will not notice if something is wrong. If you are worried about your child, speak to their school or to someone who can help.
This is about your child, and you decide
MathsHub is designed for parents, who manage the account and decide what to upload. You may work through reports and practice together with your child using your account. Please explain what you are sharing and use the app with them.
You can delete one page, or everything for one child, at any time, from our server as well as this phone.
Cookies and tracking
Your sign-in, your children's names and your last balance are written in this browser's own storage, not in a cookie, and they stay on this phone. You cannot switch those off, because they are how the app works at all. Counting how the app is used is a separate thing and you decide it. We use no advertising cookies and no Google Analytics.
Nothing on this phone is counting how you use the app, so there is nothing to accept or refuse here.

Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. The delete buttons in the app do the same job faster. If you are not happy with how we answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
